Morning everyone!
I decided to spruce up my bathroom. I`m slowly getting rid of the brass and changing it to stainless. I would like to either paint all the cabinetry (toilet stand, sink cupboard and shelf cupboard `not shown`) or stain the cupboards and get rid of the toilet stand altogether. It`s pretty ugly and not very useful. I may look today for a new one.
The cupboards are not finished and don`t have knobs. I have some in the garage that I`ll use.
I bought pumpkin orange wallpaper for half of the bathroom walls. The other half is tile. The wallpaper will go behind the toilet and on the wall to the right of the mirror. I`m not crazy about the medicine cabinet mirror either but it will do. The fixtures pretty much have to stay and they are grey.
So, should I paint the cabinets and moldings or stain them darker? If so, what colour for the paint?

Good morning! I slept! Then I sneezed anbout 27 times in a row. Why? It's pollen season! You don't need allergies in my neighborhood. It's particle irritation of sinuses. Altho' I admit I think I've developed a mild seasonal allergy to *something*. I don't test for any, so maybe it's just that my poor stressed out body can't deal with all this craziness of life and is sneezing it out.Interesting...

Hey, all. I woke up late for a doc app't. Good morning! *whoosh* And there's my vapor trail. Much hugs to all, and here's a hug to get us all going!
Or if your in the mood for staining, I'd go with a chocolate color....maybe a walnut? Or a warm blonde.
Just my thoughts.
I agree, get rid of the toilet stand and put up a single shelf on the wall above the toilet.
I would stain the cabinets a Mahogany Brown, to keep the pumpkin warm and classic looking.
I think: the whitish floor tiles, countertop, and stainless fixtures will cause the pumpkin colored walls to wash out, IF the cabinets are a light color.
However, I think that staining the cabinets a warm dark color will bring out the pumpkin and make it pop.
When you get around to it, I would replace the mirror with an oval mirror, framed in a burnished brass color (mirror turned horizontally)....if you have a Christmas Tree Shop in your area, you can go check out their mirrors. The currently have one (not real brass but an excellent imitation); it is about 26 or 30 inches and pretty cheap.
I don't even have medicine cabinets in bathrooms only mirror. I don't like medicine cabinets in bathrooms because of steam from showers and germs in bathroom and they just always seem dirty. I have a hallway closet to store bathroom suplies in and meds go up on top shelf of kitchen cabinet or locked up in bedroom.
One of the advantages of having house fire when they put the walls up in the bathroom they didn't put the whole in the wall for a medicine cabinet so having just a mirror there works fine for me

So before I redo anything, don an outfit, and build a new garden, I always ask his opinion. But at the same time, he has not clothing taste for himself. He's still wears things from the 80's. Not only do they look nasty, but they don't fit him. LOL
my SILs were so Impressed that their "Brothers" nasty bathroom ended up looking like a Spa bathroom !!
I Love Oranges...Pumpkin is one of my very favorite shades...very Relaxing...Looks beautiful with browns or stark whites...wallpaper ?? not so much, but that is Personal choice, I tend to get bored alot and repaint, hard to do that with wallpaper as it is alot of work...
this House we are Moving into, has Wallpaper in EVERY Room...OMG...I will bee Super Busy this spring bringing that stuff down, even tho it is well done, and No loud Colors or prints...every wall Is Covered, and this is a Huge house, just under 3000 sq. Feet..gonna have "Skiiny Arms" by the time I am done !!
Hey !! you going to Minot to shop ?? LOL !!
Dakota, the wallpaper is a textured paper, and can be painted at a later date. It's also a very small area that I'm doing. I WAS a wallpaper HATER but, and I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually LIKE it again! I do think it has to be properly installed, an updated pattern and used sparingly. The problem with past wallpaperers is that they did every room, with mismatched borders and different colours and patterns in each room. Way overwhelming.
1. Staining the cabinets a walnut/hickory colour.
2. Pumpkin wallpaper on 2 walls.
3. White baseboards and trim.
4. Get rid of the toilet stand (already cleared it out) as the only thing it held was the decorations and the hair clippers container. LOL
5. Add a floating shelf or two above the toilet.
6. Look into getting a new, framed mirror instead of the cabinet
7. New light fixture and hardware for cupboards.
8. Look at getting new shower doors (hate those ones).
Sounds like you've got great ideas going....be sure to post lots of pix!!
