I am wondering how many of you out there have your haven, nest or crash place all set up for bad days? Days when your done absolutely done and you have to put yourself first. My haven is my bed and bedroom. Which I have recently cleaned, organized, and spruced up for the upcoming winter.
I splurged on sheets, comforter and pillows that I like and are soft. I also bought a mattress pad warmer. For me it is better than an electric blanket. I can regulate it better.
I have a CD player, CD's and head phones handy.Mostly nature sounds, flute music, piano music, Kenny G.
I have my books nearby.
I have the phone and a list of phone numbers. When it is a bad day I can't focus on phone numbers.
I have a television with DVD player and remote.
I have an electric massage bed cushion with heat nearby.
I have lotions and rubs of all kinds within arms reach.
I have an aroma therapy machine with the little crystal beads. I like candles but am afraid I might go to sleep and leave one burning or tip it over.My favorite scent is lavendar.
I have pictures of my family on shelves and hanging on the wall.
I do not have animals in the house so I have a few stuffed teddy bears and animals that have meaning to me close by.
I have a notepad and pen, word find, and cards.
Lighting I have three different ones. I have blinds and curtains too. My need for light or no light varies.
My internal thermostat is crazy, so I have a fan, air conditioner, and ceiling fan. One minute its extra blankets and warm socks, then I am throwing things off.
I have a shelf of easy to open and eat snacks.(Cheese and crackers, granola bar, cookies, choc., that type of stuff) My blood sugar will just all of a sudden drop, and there are times I just don't have the energy to get up and fix things.
I have my laptop.
I have a humidifier in my room. In the winter I get such dry skin.
Most important is my basket of meds and a water bottle.
I have an urp pail and wet ones under the bed.
My husband is pretty great about all this and its sort of his nest too. Hoever there are times,I just can't stand to be hugged or touched in anyway it just hurts. My husband is good about bringing drinks and food to the nest when he is at home. He also brings cold packs or hot packs whatever the need be.
I know this is alot of superficial stuff, but hey if its a bad day I'll try just about anything. Sometimes its reading, sometimes its concentrating on cards or a word puzzle, sometimes meditation and visualization, sometimes its just the MEDS. I would love to hear about your havens, maybe there are things out there I haven't tried.

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...

the best sheets...actually my husband is fussier then I am when it comes to bedding....only the very best to rest ur weary body on........i would save and save and save for it....my bedroom has damn near everything I would need for several days of staying in there...
I do feel a bit inspired though from your post as I desperately need a haven to simply quiet my body and mind even on good days.
Good idea! although I am totally envious now!!!

My room is my nest too. I have books, lotion, ipod, heatpacks, mindless magazines, telephone all by my bed - yes it is a very full bedside table. I also have remotes for the tv and DVD player for really bad times. I haven't organised the laptop yet but that will come. I have an elliptical trainer that is gathering dust, waiting for better days lol. I have photos etc as well and lights by my bed. I don't have the food, cause it would never last long enough to help me in a flare lol. Maybe a small fridge and a kettle would be a good idea.... I would never leave!!
