Ok, I am really confused... really... not fog..lol
How can the medical community still be doubting the existence of FM? While I understand that there are no true definitive tests other than trigger points and drawing spinal fluid to test for high levels of substance P, surely they are not such imbeciles that they don't see we all have similar (not all the same, but not all cancer patients have the same cancer either) issues and symptoms
Alot of us have common symptoms such as headaches, IBS, muscle pain and spasms, sleep disorders, depression (due to pain thank you), etc.
Worldwide we are in the millions... speaking many different languages... did we all email each other and "pick" our symptoms?
Why is this still controversial? Because we require pain meds? Are all of us, in our diversity, all drug seekers? We are all con-artists and liars?
I think NOT!!!! Why do I think that if this disease were affecting predominately the male population there would be no acceptance problems and alot more grants and funding to find a cure?
Ok... I will get off of my soap box... Sorry.... Just am sick of people looking at me like "oh yeah, I've heard of that.... it's because you are neurotic female who is depressed, anxious, or a hypochondriac who wants pain pills and to not have to work.
From my limited experience with all the FINE AND OUTSTANDING people affected by this DD, I have found the vast majority to be the type A's who are over-achievers, perfectionists and work-aholics.... Doesn't sound like lazy to me....What do u guys think?
Aren't FM people the BEST????!!!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It's a sad day when a man's erection (or lack thereof) gets more attention than someone with FM.
no one dr wants to stand there alone yelling "lets help these people they're not crazy"
dr's are people too and i'm sorry to say most people are sheep and need to be led arround and told what to think, what to say, what to do.....
we just need a few good leaders to accnowledge our plight and the rest hopefully will fall in line and help us
damn do i ever sound jaded yuck
We, on the other hand, present with symptoms that can't be quantitatively measured such as being in pain, fatigued and the like. Unless the doctor has corroberating evidence in the form of 'signs,' they dismiss us.
Fibro is a type of subtle system failure that isn't so extreme that it shows up on tests. Until they realize that it's possible for an organ to be malfunctioning but having not failed, we aren't going to get help from the traditional medical community.
going to ask about this gene thing
i am fortunate my dr recognized the fibro as legitamite but wants me to try this for another month & come back in. i plan on asking for better pain meds, but if she wont' i guess i'll have to keep on changing drs. until i get one who will prescribe something that really works.
thanks
Its because it effects Woman more then Men. If a Man loses hes Hair???? Bang!! They have the cure. If a Man cannot get it up or grow??? Bing!! They have a cure. And I approve this message!!!
