I went and got a flu shot today, I did not consult my Dr first, I did it without even thinking about how it may react with fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed in January of last year, so this would be my first flu season as a daignosed FM patient. My 10 yr old son Darrell was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in May, and the last time we went to see his Dr, he said that not only should Darrell get the flu shot, but so should everyone else in the family, to keep Darrell safe. So today there was a flu shot clinic at the hospital, and we all went in and got one. That was at 3:30, it is now 8:30, and my entire body is flaring! My skin hurts, my everything hurts!!! The kids said they feel fine, except that the injection site is a little sore. So I log into the internet and look up flu shots with fibro....all but one site say NOT to get it, that most Dr's will advise against it. Unless there is another underlying chronic condition or you have tolerated it well in the past. One women became very ill and depressed for 2 weeks after her shot. Another said that can cause a flare up or intensify the symptoms. All the articles did say to talk this over with your physician before recieving the flu shot. I guess that is too late for me, and I am hoping that I can get this flare under control, I am about to go take a hot bath and try to relax. But please don't make the same mistake I did, talk your Dr first.
