I just wanted to share that the NFA has started circulating a commercial giving people who suffer a voice and a face, I think it is a very good commercial, however it says to go to you doctor, and it also says how we secretly suffer because of fear that people don't/won't believe our pain, I think it really should be put out there that alot of that comes from doctors not listening, not beleiving, or just not wanting to treat us because of whatever reasons. I feel that the doctors have a huge negative impact on the lack of info/treatment there is about fibro, Well I'm sure I'm not the only one who's seen this commercial, I'm kinda wondering what anyone else thought about it

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I can't even keep count anymore of all the rolled eyes and snotty comments I get of "hurry up you lier" basically is the gist of it all, like people "assume" that a 29yr. old is not suppose to be sick OR even use a walking stick for that matter! No matter how much the walking stick barely keeps me upright some days and I just NEED the thing and it's obvious I can't walk right, well people still assume my walking stick is just some kind of fashion statement! SUCKS!
I mean, my boyfriend and I went to a coffee shop and we heard some old guy go to his buddies..."What's with the cane?" All snotty like!
Then I went to the bathroom at a nearby store! After I was checking out the walkers mind you AND was using my walking stick! I can't go without the walking stick outdoors! Anyway, the same manager who saw me at the walkers with my stick had the nerve to open up the bathroom for me, look at my stick and go..."A walking stick huh?" I was like..."Yep!"
Then another time when me and my boyfriend were looking at a room for rent, NICE lady, but she asked me on walking in her house..."What's with the stick? Are you a hiker?" I looked at her and was like..."Yeah, something like that!"
As far as the docs. go...it's a trip because I have no real money or insurance at the moment because I can't work out of the home with this disease and thus get insurance to even see a doc. much, only free clinics here and there and you think they look at a "youngster" sideways like a junkie faker at a quote legit doc., well even when I hobble in on my stick and it's obvious I can't walk well, well they still do things like hand me a piss test and walk away!
It's just not a fair world in general sadly for the sick people of any type of disease really! I mean, some diseases like cancer that is easy to point to the root cause for might get treated better in a medical standpoint, but the world still views us like a sick baby bird in a nest! It's like, peck it and see if it's strong enough to survive and if it's not strong enough for whatever reason then push it out of the nest and get rid of it! Sadly, that's how the world views sick people!
Modern society is based on those who can rush to get the most done in the least amount of time and make the most amount to afford it all! Those who can't scramble to keep up, sadly are pushed to the side and basically have to fend for themselves and "just deal with it!"
You know, the ohhhhh sooooo degrading statement of a doc. or ANYONE who doesn't want to take the time to care!
Just too many more important things to do, that's the viewpoint of modern society and if there is anything that will make another feel that you will take up to much of their time with your troubles, then they can't be bothered!
There ARE some nice people out there that think outside the box of modern day society, but sadly not enough!
It is interesting though that some days all you get are uncaring jerks and then some days you get a jerk and then a sweet old lady that holds the bathroom door open for you!
It seems to be that those who care, pretty much feel your pain literally in some way or another! Weather it be them or a dear friend or family member going through something similar!
If like most of society, they can't either see your pain outright or haven't been through it or had a loved one go through it, then they just can't be bothered!
But those that can...TRUE ANGELS!
Take care,
Stay sane!
I asked him to describe the commercial in detail and he was great and did just that!
Then he goes to sleep and a few hours later I see the commercial! I was sooooo touched and excited I woke my boyfriend out of sound sleep and was like..."DOLLFACE! I SAW THE COMMERCIAL!" (In the midst of tears!)
He was like..."this is such a great start!"
He's amazing, he was just as excited and touched as I was!
When my mom, who has a hard hard time accepting I'm sick saw the commercial she came to me and there is a part that goes..."I knew I needed a hug, but I knew it was gonna hurt!" My mom said it reminded her of me because I always tense up when she goes to hug me! Just like the commercial, I want hugs, but it hurts!
Take care,
Stay sane!
