My surgeon had me all set to do surgery even did pre op appoitment had me do tests then today says hes not doing surgery till i lose 100 lbs. I am starting Physical thearpy on Friday and stay on a walker unless they determine i can get off it at some point. I am frustrated and overwhelmed the pain is so bad, when he told me i just started crying right in his office. I am angry he got me all ready and pumped up to get fixed and better and then just crushes my hopes.

Given the amount of pain that you are experiencing, I'd be calling your PCP. And, getting a second opinion. I'm sure that he wants the weight off to ensure that the surgery is a success and doesn't have to be repeated. It would have been better if he had told you this in the first place.
I'd be angry too but that isn't going to fix anything. Focus on PT and eating the best diet that you can. Work on exploring your options with a second opinion. You will have a much better quality of life if you can get your weight down. Sending hugs and support.
Geez I’m so sorry, that’s not something you just spring on someone the last minute after giving them the impression that you’re getting set up for a surgery in the very near future. I agree with Fantod about calling PCP & getting a second opinion

A second opinion wont matter, if a surgeron will do it risky its this guy hes the best around. I am just frustrated but can see his point too but he never should of set it all up had me set for surgery then cancel it

What REASON did the surgeon give? It seems like he should have known about the weight issue from the start.
If I were you, I'd DEFINITELY go for a 2nd opinion. In my own case (with the neck spine nerve compression issue), I went for a 2nd opinion even AFTER my situation was resolved. Both were top surgeons, and it turns out their solutions were significantly different (one was overkill, in my opinion).

It's strange that he would not have been aware of this risk from the start. My husband just had a similar situation with a doctor who was ready do start important treatment but then cancelled it when he saw he was on a medication---Had he not noticed this before
