How many of you have a blood-related family member with Fibro? My grandmother had it. The docs thought that she had lupus, but that was back in the 50's and towards the end of her life, she was still so, so sick, and the lupus tests came up negative. So either she had lupus, RA, and fibro, or RA and Fibro. She died in '94, before Fibro was really very well known. My mother and my aunt (her two girls) both say that I am much worse off than she was, and they truly believe that is what she had. I don't believe the docs when they say it's not genetic, because I believe it is.
Do you have anyone in your family with it?

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I also worry that my daughter might have some symptoms..but she does have a very high pressure job with long hours so that may be the reason she is so tired etc..
She did have a check up recently and everything came up terrific..of course we with fibro know that often happens with us..

I honestly believe my Mom has it, but we don't know yet. We'll soon see if that is the case. I know that my brother has arthritis (he's only a year younger than me) along with many other family members-- so immune disorders run in our family.
What the heck is with people NOT believing in FM....especially when a family member has it? That really burns me. What is so not believable????
We don't have much family history on both my mom or dads side. My mom has a few distant relatives living. The only thing we know is that they live in Texas. I tried to find a few but had no luck.
My dad has 1 brother living. I know I have several cousins out there but my dad was never close with any of his brothers or sisters. All of his siblings were alot older than him other than the one that is still alive. We have no idea where any of them even live. My sister does not have fibro. I have a half brother but we also are not sure where he is other than heard he is in Alaska.
This is something ive thought of often. My rheumo asked me this question at one of my first visits with him. I had to tell him I had no clue.
I wish i had more time to sit on the net and search for any of my relatives, or at least cousins that I know are somewhere out there.
