Face rashes...

for the past week I have had this awful rash on my face...very dry...itchy...red...a tad puffy...both cheeks and my nose is involved...so for whatever reason I looked it up this morning...at first just attributeing it to Hives and the stress of everyone leaving me...but this does not act like the Hives I have had in the past...so I looked it up...it is called a "Malar Rash"...looks just like it...acts just like it....it is common in people with Lupus...Now it has me a bit scared...FM scares me....CFS scares Me...but Lupus Terrifies me...I have no idea Really what Lupus is...but we do have a woman here with it...and she is now homebound 100 percent...perhaps I should go talk to me Dr. Anyone with any experience with Lupus here ?

My grandmother had lupus & I'm sorry to say that a "butterfly" rash on your face could be a symptom...:(

my doc wife has it. and all i know is you get a butterfly rash on the face and the symptoms are simular to fibro. talk to your doc and find out what he thinks. think there is blood tests for that.. hope you get better.. TRISH50

well....there is a Lupus board on here...but NO ONE is on it...that board has not moved in HOURS....but i read thru a bunch of the threads...and geeeez it kinda sounds like how we all feel...tired achey legs...stiffness...soreness...ok.am freaking myself out a bit...where else do i go to look ?

While I would see the doctor about this. the typical lupus, (malar rash) is NOT usually itchy or uncomfortable) most people dont even notice it till it is pointed out to them...so I would doubt this is that...
There are blood tests for Lupus. I would really suggest you see your rheumatolgist and get tested.but I think I might also see a dermatologist in case it is an allergic reaction or hives.

Oh man I have a butterfly rash on my face.Im stressed I have the symptoms.Could it be that all along Ive had lupus???

I have FM and suspect Lupus also but test high but not high enough to say Lupus. However, unless you are in a flare the test can show negative from what I understand.

I have the butterfly shaped redness on my cheeks and nose and chin. Also, have redness on my neck and chest. Go to: http://lupus.webmd.com/guide/lupus-systemic-lupus-erythematosus-symptoms and click on butterfly rash to see a picture of where the rash normally is. They list the symptoms also. The symptoms are very similar and only your dr. can decide if it is Lupus. Hope they can figure it out. Oh, and they say when you go in the sun without sunscreen the rash tends to get worse.

lET US KNOW HOW YOUR DOING? IF YOU SAW YOUR DOC.. sound bad. to me.. might be a reaction to a med or food?? went to that lupus website.. its worse than fibro.. thanks for that website .. pretty sure i dont have that.. simular symptoms.. but. says fever over 100.degrees, i would assume constant.. trish50

I went to the site...the rash looks just like mine...the dryness on my face makes it feel itchy...but not itchy like hives...also alot of the other things sound familiar to everything...FM/CFS is all I have ever been diagnosed with...but I have no clue if they tested me for Lupus...i did leave a message with my Dr. asking if they had and mentioned the rash...spose they will NOT get back to me til later today...I am a little scared at this point...but i will get myself calmed down...cause stress makes me very sick...so OFF to listen to my Mood music and stretch !!

I have about 6 of the Symptoms...The only ones I have that are different then Fm/CFS is this face rash and a constant low temp of 100.5 whenever I have overdone or get stressed....all the other symptoms that are different then FM/CFS I do not have...I am not as concerned now as i was a bit ago...Ok...now OFF to go relax...lol

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder. There are several different kinds. Most rhuemys usually test for this and other things before giving fibro diagnosis. I have had this and have lupus. there is several on this board with both. marilyn

My doctor thought I had lupus a long time ago because I had the red rash on my face. Turned out to be rosacea - which can be aggravated by fibro pain, overexertion, hot foods and beverages... It didn't itch though. I would bring it up with your doctor if it continues. Good luck.

yes.. rest. can get you all worked up. I get terrible anxiety.. that is why i have to take diazapam.. panic disorder.. and get it from pain. heart beats off the wall.. hope ya feel better later on.. TRISH50

you can look lupus up on the computer...but rosdessa (sorry mispelled) does that too...foods you eat, stress and other factures makes your face red...My sister takes medicine for that..I think I have that my face is always red...I was tested for lupus but came out negative...Good luck...Debbie in Ct
