I am so angry right now. I am having some major challenges at work with my medical insurance. I was added to the company policy 11/1/07 on the HMO - I chose that because there is a "no preexisting conditions" clause. Yeah! So, now the company had decided to change their insurance effective 2/1/08. The new plan has no HMO, and they will exclude my preexisiting conditions from 2/1/08 to 11/1/08. So, no coverage for my barrage of medical problems for NINE months.
So, I've been upset. Talked to my boss, talked to the office manager, and today I talk once again to the insurance agent who is now asking me all about my personal business. So, I tell her I was diagnosed about 15 years ago with fibro. Her response "Oh, you haven't read your current insurance contract, have you? Fibromyalgia is an excluded condition". I told her I've never heard of such a thing, and I have never been told that in the past. She basically said that since it is such a hard thing to diagnose, that they don't cover it. Her tone, as you may imagine, was demeaning, which just made me more angry.
Gotta love the compassion here. I'm losing coverage for 9 months, talked down to and forced to share personal information. I work for a company with 80 people, and I am the only one affected with the preexisiting situation, so they are "trying to work with me", as the change in plans will save the owner alot of money.
Ugh...I am frustrated and upset. The good news is that God has made amazing provisions for me over the last couple of years as I have struggled through school and other situations. Because of Him, I will not lose hope.
Thanks for listening.
Blessings,
Jan

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
what kind of Insurance do you HAVE ??
it will NEVER be covered ??
or just for the 9 months ?
How dare people look down upon us for diseases we never asked for to begin with!
The only reason I'm sure, that the insurance is being an ass about everything is because they know in a chronic condition and disease that long term care cost them more money then putting a spling on a broken arm and telling someone they will be better in 6weeks when they are all healed!
ASSHOLES!
Take care,
Stay sane!
Some people only see dollar signs and quote supposed wasted time at the doctors!

Freaking HMO's!
Sorry, Jan, but you're right...God will make away!
That is horrible! Not covering fibro? It is a chronic pain syndrome. I understand and would be very upset myself. I hope your boss can intercede and get you coverage since you are the only one with a pre- existing excluded condition.
I will pray for you and I know your faith will get you through this. I'm so sorry, Hugs, Keleee
