Yep!! I started off on 10mgs at night, the dose has been increased, 1st to 20 and then 30mgs per night. Although this med is a anti-depressant, it's used more for spasms, sleeping problems and can help with incontinence of urine. Everyone is different in how their dosage affects them. Anxiety and panic attacks can lead to depression, been there, done that!! and never wanna go down to that dark place again. I still get depressed now and again, who doesn't? but it is nowhere near as bad as it was back then.
I've not heard of klonipin, but then again I'm in the UK, so it could be under another name. Is it a sleeping tablet, coz they can aggrevate the sleeping problem. The sleep that you get with sleeping meds are chemically induced and therefore not natural. When you stop taking the med, you are worse off. klonipin i believe is used only as a anti anxiety med. it can be habit forming if taken in large doses for long periods of time, but so can antideppresants. i don't feel depressed all the time. so i think all i need is something that can suppress the anxiety when ihave it(which is mostly at night for some reason.)

I started with 25mg,for 2weeks then 50mg for two weeks and 75mg.This is my dosage,i have it for nerve pain and helps me to sleep.

they were horrendous for me just made me drowsy consistently

hi i use it to help me sleep at the low dose of 20 mgs at this dose it is not for depression but to try to get some sleep it does help so i think it is worth giving it a go it can make you quite drowsy for a while until you adjust but it is worth persevering good luck

Amitriptyline made the pain lessen, sleep better, and the black fog of depression blow away, it was my lifesaver!!!!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!

I am 100% against it. It is one of the few drugs that doesn't have an antidote if someone OD's on it.

It was awful for me and I never did adjust to any dosage, even half a tablet. Dry mouth, dizziness, fogginess, etc. My kitty woke me up one night and I couldn't see...it was so blurry. If the house caught fire, I wouldn't have got out.

I have been on 10mg for six years now and it has been my lifesaver. I don't get quality sleep without it. I had exactly the same reservations to start with but it only works as an an antidepressant from 50mg+. I tried upping it to 20mg but it made no difference so I am happy with the 10mg.
The amytrip works by stopping the brain from jolting us out of our stage 4 sleep and lets us get the restorative sleep we need. i would recommend giving it a go.

I have just came off it for the second time of trying it. I hate it. I spend my days like a zombie and my nights crying because i would have such awful dreams from taking it. I have just started gabapentin now instead. Its all trail and error i think, what works for some wont work for others. Nothing seems to be working for me but i will stick with the gabapentin for a while to see if i feel any better.

I take 25-50 mg at night and it has helped a lot with sleep and some with pain. I do have problems with grogginess during the day but it's so much better than when I wasn't sleeping1

I AM ON 25 MG AT NIGHT TO HELP WITH MY SLEEPING, AND IT DOES HELP,NOT COMPLETELY, BUT I DO SLEEP BETTER ON IT AND I DONT WAKE AS OFTEN AS I USED TO, NOT EVERY ONE GETS ON WITH THEM, I DO SUFFER A DRY MOUTH BUT THAT IS ABOUT THE ONLY SIDE EFFECT THAT I HAVE. IT IS ALL TRIAL AND ERROR. HOPE YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT WORKS FOR YOU SOON LOVE AND HUGS ELLIE

Thanks for the info regarding klonipin, you won't know if amitriptyline will help you until you try it, but only you can make that decision, unfortunately that is the way fibro is, no-one is the same. Good luck, hugs Owlxx

yes the amitriptline does help with sleep allowing you to have the deep rem sleep.The klonipen or Rivitrol also called clonazipam try to stay away from it.Take from someone who knows.It is very addictive and withdrawals are terrible.

was on it for a yr..worked great for the pain and sleeplessness by it also put 30 extra pounds on me..everyone that i know who has been on it has also complained about the weight gain..been off of it for 3yrs and it is finally out of my system so that i can lose the extra weight..dr even agreed that it was the cause of my weight gain..he told me that it would take a long while to leave my system..boy was he right..

I don't know what my dosage is, but I break them in half. The sleep is GREAT, but getting up in the morning is hard for me. (I've also tried the three newer sleep aids and my insomnia always broke throuhg on them.)
The Elivil (amitriptylin) works the best.
I also take an anti-depressant and if the Elivil does anything for that, it's merely a compliment to my Clebrex.
