i have only had fibro for just over a year, so i am new at this. i learn something new about this lovely disease every day. for the past week por so i have been experiencing a major flare. it started when i found out about some financial trouble i was in, and then the weather turned cold and i have been in more pain than ever before. i have also been having dizzy spells so bad that i fell o ver while standing in my bedroom yesterday. i luckily caught myself and managed to fall on my bed, but it scared me because what would have happened if i had fallen down somewhere else? maybe even hit my head on something and then it would take days for somebody top notice i wasn't okay. (i live alone)
is this normal? does anyone else get these attacks of dizziness? i feel like my balance is completely off most of the time now. before it was only stubbing my toes and banging my shoulders into door jams. does anything help? am i going to be in this much pain all winter or is it just a very long flare? help!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Unfortunately I lose my balance alot and get dizzy. Another one of the joys of fibro. I'm glad you are ok.
Take care of yourself!

I get dizziness, what I call "bobblehead syndrome" where my brain feels like it's bouncing around, drop things, tip and/or fall over and stub toes.
Are you getting enough sleep?
Can you get one of us, or a trustworthy friend to be your email buddy so you can check in with us to know your okay?
I get dizzy spells when I am in a Flare...ringing in my ears...yet No infection present..Not as extreme as Vertigo...Just a bumping into things mostly...sometimes worse...
I hae been pretty much in the worst flare I have yt t experience since August... feel half Ok for a while...and then down I go again...is driveing me insane !!
There are days that I don't dare get out of bed. I don't know what can be done about it. I see my doc in January and have a list of things like that I will be asking him about.
Ask your specialist what can be done.
I am fortunate to have a wonderful hubby who takes total care of me when that happens.

I have been told by three doctors that this it totally NOT related to fibro in anyway. This condtion occurs when the vertigo is brought on by change in head position such as certain movements of the head.. rolling over in bed..moving the head suddenly or changing the postion of your head such as picking up something off the floor etc..
I also have dizziness that is a sense of imbalance..this is more the fibro kind and it is worse since I have the vertigo..
The best way I can explain this is to decribe vertigo as the room spinning really fast around yo..like you are on a disney ride.. the kind of dizziness that usually goes with fibro is more an imbalanced feeling, lightheadness, weakness, unsteadiness.. neither of these is pleasant but the SPINNING of the vertigo is the worst to me.
I dont know if this helps at all but this is what I have now...
DS has an area for this problem.
