hi all.been awhile since I've been here..if anyone has good pain doctor-HANG on to them for dear life..in my area of SoutheastMissouri..my doctor has now told me that the DEA has told them to write pain meds on month to month basis now...same meds I've been on since I believe 1996..always got them written for 6 months at a time and now all of a sudden because of abuse by "some" people..we are all going to be calling it in month by month..if we aren't stressed out enough already and now this..but the silver lining is that at least I still will get them but smacks of more DEA red tape! I resent it..am I the only one that resents the invasion of privcy?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
People that abuse, have caused a great big problem for those of us that need the meds on a full time basis. I don't want to get hooked, but if I do, so what, I need the meds. I am not taking them to get high. So what do we do now? Do we have to suffer because of those that are hooked, but don't need the meds? I could go on and on and on about this.
Thanks for the post sweetie. Love and hugs
Kathy
Check out some of the links I've put up recently in my posts...you'll get a real education as to the how's & why's of why we get treated like we do.

Where I live its always been 1 month at a time, esp. if it is a narcotic.
5 years ago when we had a different insurance, if we took a med on a regular basis, daily all year long we had to get them thru mail order at 3 months at a time, other than narcotics.
I also have to go to my rheumo's office twice a month and pic up my 2 narcotic scripts and take them to the pharmacy, they can't call them in, it's against the law.
I can see that over time we are the ones that are truly going to end up getting the short end of the stick, and in turn getting screwed. We can only hope that over time fibro will become more known and there will be more options out there for us. The most important thing to me is to make all of these medical professionals more aware to help those of us that need the help professionally.
One thing I'm happy about is that I've never had a pharmacist question me or make me feel awkward in any way. Because of the stigma out there, I wouldn't be surprised if it might happen.
It isn't all the addicts fault. It is the doctors that create and cater to them also. A doctor should question why someone needs a lethal dose of narcotics each day. Why are they not held accountable?
A doctor in good conscience would not prescribe someone a lethal dose of narcotics but I have seen it done. Over medicating is very common.
thats the way its been here in nc for a number of years already. but only for narcotics
