Hi all,
Well, its only my second day and this is great. Not only the feeling of support but the fact that simply being here is making me think more about taking care of me again. Wow, did that ever get buried for the last 6-7 years.
Now the question I have for y'all: This is the FM group, but do some of you, all of you, none of you have CFS too. And if you have it, it is primary or secondary for you?
To be honest, I surfed around a little and although I am subscribed to the CFS group on this same site, this group seems so much more interested in support, caring, sharing and also smiling and surviving. Not that the other doesn't, they just aren't as active.
I have always found that one or the other ends up holding the most people, at least that is what was true on the listserver I belonged to years ago and that one was a CFS one. Go figure.
I think I said it somewhere, but I am CFS primary with FM along for the ride and the illness that responds better to the palliative treatments.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
ouch
Basket: I have heard variations on your story frequently. My personal feeling is that because the criteria for a FM dx is based more on quatifiable things, that diagnosis is made more frequently. I know that in my area, smaller and more rural, that is true. I find that I try to talk to people that I run into about both because many times women have the symptoms of CFS and because they don't fit into the FM mold, they are ignored.
Dallas: You and I sound similar in our diagnostic history. My infectious disease guy told me verbally that I had FM too, but then said he was sticking to the CFS dx only so that SSD wouldn't become confused...LOL.
Callmeouch: Love the name. And yes CFS is a separate diagnosis, although the two diseases tend to overlap, as they do also with myofacial pain syndrome sometimes.
msboioni: I had a friend whose CFS started right after she was in a car wreck and had surgery. They list trauma of any sort as being a trigger. There was a great article about that, I will try to find it.
SharonH: What a long and harrowing path you have had to take. Thank goodness you were able to find docs that responded intelligently to your circumstances. As a chemist, the nickel/mold/illness thing does not shock me. I am too fogged to remember exactly why, but it doesn't. I am so glad you found help. Now the nosey question, if you had that biopsy marker in, does that mean you are ok? (I assume that was for b-cancer?)
