Today I graduated from 1 wk to 2 wk treatment. So that's a total of 5 I've had. Today I can say I really am getting some pain relief. I have a pattern of the pain escalating for a few days post treatment and then it drops off lower than it was before the treatment. She said that was normal because that pain has been in the muscles for so long. I feel we are getting into very old pain. It feels like it's coming off in layers. The sciatic pain is especially better. So, I'd say it's worth a try. But be aware it is a slow process and not necessarily pain free. That "rebound" pain is managable with heat, exercise, plenty of fluids, and rest. If I absolutely have to, I take a couple of Nuprin, even though my gastro doesn't want me to. Tylenol is useless. Hope this may offer relief for somebody. I'm off to first appt. with naturopath next week. I have high hopes.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I used an accupuncturist when I injured my back 4 yrs. ago, and I was amazed at the relief I got from the treatments.
I totally know what you mean about the post treatment pain, OUCH! but afterwards it was so much better!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress, I might just have to give my "needle man" a call!lol
hugs, Brat
I'm having it for my insomnia and I think it's helping. He's trying to calm my nervous system down in an effort to help my body be able to sleep.
We took one of our elderly dogs to a new vet yesterday to have acupuncture for back problems that are making walking very tough. She didn't even know she had needles in her and was walking better, farther and more often once it was over. She'll have treatments once a week for a while and then twice a month and hopefully just need to go in once a month after that.
My acupunturist is a Chinese doctor whose from Taiwan so I have a bit of a time getting him to explain stuff as he can't communicate more complex ideas very well in English. I asked the vet to explain some of the theory to me and from what he was saying, pain is one of the easiest things to treat.
I would encourage others to give it a try if they can possibly afford it.
The way my doc explained it when I first went was its like peeling the layers away from an onion. Makes sense after going through it.
