I have noticed a number of posts here on DS include links to other sites. I have always liked these types of posts because I can choose to check out the info at my leisure, or not at all if it doesn't interest me. Because I dont have to wade blindly through a post before I run across something I am sorry I had to see, I am given the courtesy of not having to entertain certain types of content which for me feels inappropriate or invasive or is simply bad timing. At the same time others who don't feel the same have free and complete access. Some of the really smart folks on this site write in their DS journal and then post the link. It got me thinking: why can't this same approach be used when someone feels the need to share content which typically results in painful drama in this group? If you feel the need to advocate for legal marijuana, quote ancient native wisdom or Judeo-Christian scripture, express your political views, post song lyrics meant to be "inspirational" but are really meant to deliver a pointed message to whomever, or just want to respond to something that moved you (good or bad), how about posting an online link for it with a short description of what it is? I am thinking this could be a peaceful solution to the tension between freedom of expression and respecting differences within the DS community. I will start doing this myself as of today.
