A HUGE thanks to all who have posted on the topic of thyroid imbalance and FM. After running a low-grade fever for more than a week (among other things), I spoke to my doc about having my thyroid retested because I have had problems in the past. It turned out he had already done the more sensitive of the 2 tests, called an HSA. Now this is the info that I found the most helpful - he said even if your HSA reads in the "normal" range, a reading in the mid-range of the normal scale indicates the thyroid gland is being overworked trying to produce enough of the hormone. I am re-starting levothyroxine, and he said if there is a problem, I should see the full benefit after 6 weeks. Whoo hoo - the hope I could be less fatigued and have less pain!
