I have been browsing different sites seeking a non-prescription solution for FM. And repeatedly am seeing 5-HTP in many situations. Has anyone tried this at all and what was the result. Thanks!

5-HTP is not an end all non-Rx solution for FMS. There are pros and cons to this supplement as there are to other supps and same goes for Rx meds. With FMS especially it seems to always be a trial and error thing. Some things work better for others. It's good that you're researching. I have no appetite already and 5-HTP takes my appetite away completely so that's one downside for me. I have a holistic doc and recommend the same for you to seek out as it's best to have a doc who is familiar with what works and what doesn't. Just a suggestion is all. If you try it out, start at the lowest mg. and increase it as tolerated and if you notice changes for the better. Best wishes danamandy.

I've been taking it for 3 weeks and ate a quart of ice cream last week, which is unusual for me. It doesn't affect my appetite and seems to be working. I've found it works best when taken at night along with my pamadol to ensure a good nights sleep. During the day was making me sleepy. I'm having good luck so far using a site called TyH. I also take Malic Acid, Magnesium and B12. It makes the good days better, and the bad more tolerable. But it's not magic. Good Luck!
