I was told on a CT scan in June that I had fatty infiltration of the liver. My ALT at the end of July was 107 and my AST was 79. Three weeks later I had new bloodwork and my ALT had increased to 173 and my AST to 104. I know that ALT is more important in showing actual liver damage than the AST as it is more liver specific. My doctor doesn't seem at all concerned about this. My fasting blood sugar was 120 so I may be diabetic. My doctor is going to do a A1C hemoglobin test to determine if I am diabetic and if I need to go to an endocrinologist. In the meantime, I am very very very worried about my liver enzymes and the fatty liver. He didn't mention doing a liver biopsy, but I wonder if it is necessary? I am trying to lose weight and follow the diabetic exchange pyramid diet and also keep it low fat. I do not have high triglycerides, by some miracle, but I am female, 5'6 and weigh about 215 pounds. I've been overweight my whole adult life. Suddenly I am having pain in my upper right abdomen, right where the liver would be. I don't know if I am actually having discomfort there or if it is a hysterical reaction to being scared of having cirrhosis. It wasn't hurting until about a week ago. Does anyone else with fatty liver have pain or discomfort there or is that an indicator that I may have cirrhosis? What sort of prognosis is there for patients with fatty liver or cirrhosis? How long can people live with this disease? I'm terrified that I won't be here to raise my kids. I'm really worried about this. If anyone can give me some words of advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi all! This is for those of you that have or have had the same neurologist for 4 years or more. I have been with mine now since 2009. He is one of the best movement disorder secialists in the midwest. I know he is extremely busy on the lecture circuit now and in fact not taking new patients there is a huge waiting list for him. BUT.... I feel like my visits are not what they use to be. He...
I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...
