I've been trying hard to make positive changes in my life, including focusing more on the positive, decluttering (in the literal and emotional sense), etc. My mother (who is chronically negative and complains about almost everything) seems to have picked up on it and is now complaining and then following it up with something like "there I go again. I promised myself I wasn't going to burden you with that and there I go burdening you." I've never claimed that she's a burden. Literally all I've done is started focusing on the positive more in my own life and not complaining. It basically seems like she wants me to complain so she doesn't feel bad about complaining maybe? What do I even say to her when she does that? I'll be honest, I don't like it she constantly complains and is negative, especially venting to me about my dad, his job, and/or his family, but I've never said that she's a burden.
