I am a Registered Nurse at R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. I enjoy my job and am damn good at it. Recently there was an inmate/patient who was physically & emotionally abused by a Certified Nurses Assistant (no longer works there) & was reported to the Director of Nursing. She failed to report this incident to the authorites because of the fact that the CNA was a friend of hers. We nurses then reported the DON to the Department of Health. An investigation was conducted, but unfortunately this monster of a manager continues her reign of terror. She has poor management skills, leading to poor decision which affects us and ultimately the care we need to provide for the inmates/patients. Deaths have occurred due to her mismanagement. We have over 60 signatures, including doctors, on a petition to remove her, but nothing. We have approached the warden many, many times, and again nothing. Recently, we have started picketing in front of the prison, through our union. We are in need of support and/ or any suggestions
