I have a question. My boyfriend had previous cases before he was sentenced that he had owed restitution. These cases were unrelated. So, he has asked me what happens to them while he is incarcerated? Are they just collecting interest? Are they dropped? Anybody dealt with this?

I am not sure, but someone will come along that can answer your question

If he works while in prison they will take some out of his check. It doesn't collect interest. The amount that was set is the final amount he will have to pay. If he doesn't get it paid in the time given then the people he owes restitution to can take him to civil court and sue for the remainder. Don't worry if that happens because he can't do jail time for it. Hope that helped.

In AZ, when you are released frm prison they victims can take you to court and get it back that way. It is up to the victims on what they will do.

In our situation, he had 3 previous times he encountered courts in CO (were in AZ) well he's serving time in CO right now and when I went online to the CO courts webpage to get a list of what his restitution was going to be, there was fees from even 10 yrs ago from unrelated cases. Small like $18 and $36 but still there. They are taking 20% out of everything we send him and from his pay he makes at work, his .60 cents a day!! YOu can contact the courts in the state he's serving his time and see what it is.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
