Help me out here. I fell in love with her when she was high on Vicodin. I've fallen in love with her all over again sober.
The problem is that she was so much easier to deal with when she was loaded. I had to really mess up to make her mad. I always got my way and won every argument, even when I knew I was wrong.
I discovered her relaps because she got way to easy with me and the kids.
Don't get me wrong. I won't stay with her high any more. I just want to vent a little and am wondering if any of you have had the same feelings. Actually missing the easy plyable doper from time to time.
Oh, by the way, tommorow is 60 days sober. The last time I gave her 60 roses. Think I'll do it again.
I'm way too happy now, even with the actual effort I am now having to put into a relationship with a sober person. She is worth it all.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
to be honest yes i too like my mom better when she would pop her pills but then when she would run out i would not here from her for days because she had the "flu". atleast now i know she is not doing as much damage to herself and that she will not OD.
recovery is not just a change for the addict. it involves everyone part of the addicts life. for us we too need to learn how to cope with it and it is not easy. as time goes on it gets easier. you sound as though you are coping well. she will constantly be changing also as her recovery progresses.
I hope it all works out for you both.
Supporting our loved ones when they are in recovery is a very loving thing to do, but the most important thing that we need to do is nourish "our" recovery, because addiction is a family disease. Only they can work at getting themselves well, and only we can do the same.
Blessings to all of you. I will hold you close in my prayers..
