please dont play with this drug IT KILLS people who break it, chew it, crunch it, snort it, or inject it, they are playing with their life. if you know anyone who is abusing this pill please go to oxycontin abuse kills. com and then decide what you can do to help. i lost my little sister 6 months ago to this pill that no one knows enough about. if i had only known then what i know now she WOULD still be alive. i will leave you with this... ONE OXY is equal to 16 PERCOCETS!!!! and if the protective coating is taken off ( as it always is with an abuser) you are ingesting 12 hours of pain meds in 10 minutes. can your heart take that? my little sisters couldnt and she was just 30 years old....love to all~~~~~toni

I found out on New Years Day that my husband of almost 5 years has an addiction to porn and masterbating. I found thousands of photos and videos on his phone. He has spent thousands and thousands of dollars on woman sending him naked pics. I feel betrayed and I don't know how to have a marriage that isn't built on trust. He had all these different accounts I knew nothing about. Instragram,...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
Let me clarify this for all of you:
The most commonly prescribed percocets are 5mg. Oxycontin comes in 10,20,40,60,and 80mg. So if someone is taking Oxy 80's, it is like taking 16 percocets and for someone who is not used to that, it is deadly, as the poster stated.
It is hard to imagine that most people do not know these kind of things- It is so important to educate yourself on what your loved ones are abusing, please take the time to learn!!!!!!!!!
Should I have to be in constant, horrible pain because people have chosen to abuse the only drug that helps me?
You are right that this is a very dangerous and highly addictive drug. Last year my son was using OxyContin and was up to 80's, snorted, mixed with other drugs. It's a miracle he's still alive.
You say that if you know then what you know now, she would still be alive. You have to stop believing that or the guilt will eat you up. If you had known, you would understand what many of us in this forum had to learn the hard way. There is absolutely nothing you could have done to stop her from using this drug. If there were a way, we would have found it.
There was a recent change that my son told me about. They added something to the drug that makes it turn to gel if a person snorts it. Then it's not absorbed. He said he heard that kids from the high school that are addicted to Oxy are now turning to heroin as a substitute. That backfired, at least for the current users. Maybe it will at least stop the new users from starting.
Purple-I saw the note above about Greenbriar not helping. Of course it can help people who are truly interested in recovery. From what you've been posting recently, there are some very positive signs with your husband and I hope things continue to go well.
Purple, my heart tells me that you may be hanging on to your husband and marriage to long and for all of the wrong reasons. If your codependence makes you too sick to protect your children from the horrific fallout of having addicted parents, you will feel guilt all of your life, as I do.
Prescribing a pill is easier than getting to know a person and co-ordinating a multidisciplinary approach to their pain management with physical therapy, on the job changes, psychology etc. You need to focus on the regulation of doctors and educating them, not patients who are not supposed to have to do the doctor's job.
People with an addict in the family or who have personal risk factors for abuse should not take oxy.
