He may not be able to stop physically, although he truly does want to QUIT - and please keep in mind that it isn't physically safe for him to detox with out medical support. Get him into an inpaitient detox program, as I understand it and depending on his level of dependance he will be very ill and need the medical help for 3 days or more...only after the drug has left his system can he begin recovery and begin a plan with an outpatient treatment center.
Good luck! Inpatient treatment for detox is scary, but from one wife to another, it is TOTALLY worth it. He really does need help to stop, and to stop safely.
And like Duci stated YOU HAVE TO STOP doing the work. I finally stopped doing everything for my husband and LEFT and beleive if he really wants to get help he needs to do it himself!!
As for believing him, if it's not true, and you sound like you know it isn't true, why do you want to believe it?
