Ok so I am venting. David decided he wanted to try to get clean on the 14th, after I actually packed things and was leaving. the 15th (monday) he went and had a face to face with my dad and stepmom and came clean about everything. He has been going to AA meetings since then, though he doesn't really like them. Well that Tuesday we call our primary care doc to get him in to help wiht the detox and try to get him on Suboxone. The earliest they can get him in is today-a week and 2 days later. So he holds out for all this time to go to the doc today, hoping to get on this suboxone to help with the cravings. He goes in there and 2 hours later the doctor tells him "you have to be in acute withdrawal for me to dose you and I only will dose you for 2 weeks and after that you will have to come off" Um WTF??? Was he supposed to keep snorting enough oc to kill him everyday until yesterday? Basically what he told David is that if David wanted to get help from him he would have to go use again (he didn't actually say that, but that was what was implied). For what?? To wait 2 more weeks to come see you and then get 2 weeks of meds and then nothing?? He didn't offer David any other options, any referrals- NOTHING.
So of course this just devestated both of us, we were both looking forward to seeing how he would do on this drug. So now, we have an appointment for him on the 5th with a suboxone doctor who does long term maintance AND will start him on it while he is clean. However it's 305 dollars for the first 2 visits and 75-160 every visit after that, plus the script. He is an out-of-network provider, so my insurance won't cover any of the office visit, but will pay some on the script. We will have to pay 60 dollars for the script, but that is a pretty good cost, considering it cost several hundred dollars and more out of pocket.
So in short (haha, this soo wasn't short) I am just really upset with the doc. You shouldn't tell people that you do suboxone if you really don't and how can you expect someone to come to you for help when they can't get in when they really need help?? I mean to tell an addict who is trying to get clean "can't see you till next week" is just like saying to them- don't even bother.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
the longer you are on it the harder it is , he was only on it for 30 days , this is probably why the doc said only 2 wks .
if David really wants to get clean , a week should make no difference, his mind should be set , its not going to be an easy task at any point , and its not going to be overnight , it could take months or years to fully feel normal again . ,take the help when he can get it .
Good luck to you two , I hope for the best for him
