Hi everyone I am new here. I was diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus a few months ago. I went to a gastro dr. because I was had had a few cases when I was eating and just about choked. I was also experiencing severe heartburn and still am. I had an endoscopy and that's when he told me. He gave me a prescription for Prilosec and it hasn't worked. He gave me samples of another anti-acid and that doesn't work either. For the past month my esophagus burns so bad. It is severe pain that makes me cry! I have had it but never like this. The Prilosec does nothing. I finally made an appt. today to see him again for this same problem. I have always had acid reflux and/or GERDS for years now. My Dad died in 2005 from Esophageal Cancer. I was with him till the end for 2 months. I was wondering has anyone had the severe burning of the throat and what did they do or what did your dr. do? How long can you have Barrett's before it can turns into cancer? I am scared .........Can anyone help me?

I'm just so sick and tired of living like this and I have done SO much to try to feel better, I've tried everything I can think of...
