Epilepsy (often referred to as a seizure disorder) is a chronic neurological condition characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures. It is commonly controlled with medication, although surgical methods are used as well. Seizures (or convulsions) are temporary abnormal electrophysiologic phenomena of the brain, resulting in abnormal synchronization of electrical neuronal...
1. DO NOT stick anything in his mouth.
2. DO NOT hold him down to stop his shaking.
Both of those can actually hurt him
What to do:
Remove anything he might hurt himself on from around him or from his hand that he is holding.
Put something under his head if he is on a hard surface like cement or tile--use whatever is handy like a coat, pillow, towel if nothing is handy just stick your hand under there.
If possible turn him unto his side.
Then just wait. Most seizures just last 2 or 3 minutes. It will SEEM like forever but glance at watch or the clock to be sure.
It is normally NOT neccesary to call for an ambulance unless either 1. He seizes more then 5 minutes 2. He hurts himself during the seizure 3. Goes right into another seizure after the first starts.
After the seizure stops, allow him time to regain himself, he will feel out of it and disoriented for a little while, this is normal. He may have bitten his tongue or cheek a bit so he may have a bit of blood in his mouth-also normal from a seizure. It is also not unusual to be incontinent with a seizure. Some people just want to go to sleep afterward, just let him.
The biggest thing to remember is that it will stop, and most of the time we are ok afterward. It is a bit scary, but you will be ok if you understand what to do. It is good that you are trying to find out and be prepared.
also remember that it is also very common that he may be tired after a seziure...
now on to the real question that i think you are asking...smile..
seziures are not usually heridearty hon... especially if they are caused by a growth... if your boyfriend had them since birth then there would be a small percentage of them being herideraty.... but it seems from the information that you have given us that he has developed them as a result of the growth.... therefore not heridarty so not to worry that the baby will get seziures just because your boyfriend has them....so relax on that point okay...
next follow all of race121's advice and you will be fine...also contact a local epilepsy foundation..usually found in the local telephone book and they can send you out information if you like...
and please dont give him ...clean water? immediately after a seziure unless he asks for it... i know that sometimes after comming out of a seziure i am so disorented that i find it hard to speak let alone sallow etc... just give him time to come out of it...
and yes the meds may not work right away...alot of seziure meds are trial and error to find the right dossage and right meds...hang in there...it can be done...

Yes I understand your fear and I agree with everything race has told you so I will not go over that it was a very good reply.
While you are frightend and I understand where you are comming from the advice I want to give you is that your boyfiend is having a seisure but dont make him feel that hes a alien.
I in the past have had boyfriends treat me and talk to me as if I am not human and it hurts so much that I a have finished relationship my advice is to talk to your boyfriend dont avoid taking about it and share how you both feel and explain to him that you are frightend but let him know that you see it both ways and that you are trying to understand even though its not easy share your thoughts together.
As for your baby epilepsy can be inherited but epilepsy, but dont worry the chances are quite slim but it does happen
Good luck take care
