This is an adjunct thread to "Will Oprah listen?"
There has been a lot of interest in getting things rolling. Here's the basic plan:
Step 1: Bombard talk shows with the idea of doing a segment or show on epilepsy until they do it.
Step 2: Bask in the glory of our triumph!
Here's the good news. I have contacted press contacts at both Montel and Rachel Ray, and they are going to get in touch with the producers. So it is imperative that we start e-mailing them now.
Here are the sites to use:

Here is a form letter you can use:
Epilepsy is a disease that suffers from many myths and misconceptions. It is a hidden disease. We would like to see your television program do a segment on epilepsy to help bring to light the disease, the reality of it and to help people understand who we are.
DO IT NOW! SPREAD THE WORD! The more of us that do it, the better. Get all of your friends to do it too. We can do this!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
when contacting and asking the said shows to air a segment?
You use the phrase "disease"
Epilepsy is a dysfunction of the nervous system and not a disease!
Your advertising albeit well and good! ...Please change the phrase to dysfunction of the nervous system as it is the correct term/explanation of Epilepsy.
My experience of living with epilepsy has shown me the social/emotional damaging issues that categorising of a disability can create!
People are naturally afraid!
Knowledge conquers fear!
Describing Epilepsy as a "disease" is therefore going to create more fear and subsequently prejudice!
I applaud you for your mission in writing to tv shows requesting a subject for discussion.
But please as an EP sufferer I ask you to portray our dysfunction as an illness/disability not a disease!
