hi, im caring for my niece who is 18yrs old & sufferes from severe epilepsy, mali has had epilepsy since she was 5yrs, we have tried every drug on the market but nothing has ever worked for her, in 2005 she had her right tempral lobe removed, its since then that my niece has become very difficult to understand? although she now only has seizures during her sleep, the amount & the strenght of them hasnt changed. mali has severe learning difficulties in resepct of her out-look of the world today! she doesnt understand why she has no teenage friends? why people think she is different to her? its really hard to explain mali to you, she's a wondweful kid,who is so desparate to find friends? mali is aware she has epilepsy, yet she doesnt understand that she has learning problems, she talks about boyfriends, getting married one day, yet with every seizure mali's brain gets a tiny bit more damage, she's now on the list to have another op, as the doc thinks they can prehaps remove more dead cells they've found, but they've not given us much hope! we simply cant tell mali what the future holds for her, we arent sure ourselves, its heartbreaking not being able to help our own child, if anyone even kinda understands where im coming from? it would be great to hear any ideas? advice? we as a family are kinda lost!! thanks helen x
