It is commonly controlled with medication, although surgical methods are used as well. Seizures (or convulsions) are temporary abnormal electrophysiologic phenomena of the brain, resulting in abnormal synchronization of electrical neuronal...

Much discussion happens here about driving. Many of us can not drive. Why not, when, who can, who can't, we get mad and upset when we can't--we discuss it a lot. We feel our independence is taken away when we are one of the ones who can not.
99.9% of us agree that driving when we are not seizure free is stupid.
When people complain that they are not able to drive it is often their "vent", their avenue for the frustration they feel over their current seizure state. Those of us who cannot drive cannot do so because our seizures are not controlled at all, or have occurred again after being controlled for some length of time. It is tangible evidence of that fact--it is something that is being directly effected by the seizures we are having. So it becomes one of the places the steam lets out.
For the ones that insist they are safe to drive despite their continued seizure activity--they do so, in part, because they believe they would be admitting defeat, rather then making a wise decision. There are many ways to transport ones self from here to there. There is, however, no other more clear definition in todays society of ones own independence then driving. Despite the fact that you CAN get places other ways, it would mean giving up some form of that independence, and some people will never do that, regardless of the wisdom in the decision.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
What about years ago people did not have cars or not many people could afford them.
As I hAve already put a posting on this subject but what right has a thing like a persons indepence been taken away to the fact THAT THE SOMEONE COULD KILL OR BADLY INJURE SOMEONE.
HOW SELFISH CAN PEOPLE BE would they like a loved on was killed be cause they put the own selfish feeling regarding the independace and they had a accident killed inacent victims, its more or less saying I want to drive what ever the cost.
You completely misunderstand the meaning of my post.
1. I said most of us AGREE driving when not seizure free is stupid. (that would imply I am one that agrees it is stupid)
2. I never said it was anyones RIGHT--I said it gives them independence--those are two entirely differently things.
3. My post was intended to explain why others would drive when they are not seizure free, and why they would defend their right to do so. That does not mean I agree with them. I am a person, when in a debate, who tries to understand the perspective of the other party in order to better grasp the key factors at play in the debate.
4. I have not driven for nearly a year because I have multiple seizures daily--I have not complained ONE TIME here about not being able to drive because it would be assanine to get behind the wheel.
