I underwent laparoscopic surgery 5 days ago to see if endo was the underlying cause of recurring ovarian cysts. It was then that the dr. made the diagnosis that yes, I did indeed have endo and that it was infact, severe endo. He then proceeded to recommend that I have a partial hysterectomy, leaving my right ovary to prevent menopause, as I am only 26 yrs. old. I have 2 children, ages 6 and 8, but have always considered having more children so needless to say, this news was disheartening to say the least. Then my dr. let me know that with the severe state of my endo, it was unlikely I would be able to conceive again anyways. All of this news/advice, has fallen on me like a ton of bricks and I am not ready to make that kind of decision at this time. I guess I can fool myself into believing I can still conceive, if I want to, but with a partial hysterectomy, I KNOW I can't. I am just not sure what to do at this time, and would appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks alot.
