Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.
I was on provera for 4 years.
It worked great for my endo.
I did have some trouble with the side effects though.
WEIGHTGAIN - I ended up on antidepressants at the same time so I don't know if the weight gain was the AD meds or the provera. For that I joined weight watchers... had to work really hard and be honest with myself BUT was able to lose the 30lbs I gained.
NIGHTSWEATS - were probably the worst part for me. I didn't sleep. In the end the best thing I found for those was accupuncture.
MOOD SWINGS - I had to take anti depressants for this. I have a history of depression and was doing well and off of meds when I started Depo P. I had to go back on the AD's once I started depo
SEX DRIVE - non existant....
Spotting and random bleeding.... I cant remember how ling that lasted...
this may sound scary but those were the best 4 years of my life = No pain
If I was not going to try to have a family I would have stayed on it.
I hope it works for you...
I didn't have any pain at the time, but I also didn't know that endo was causing my period pain, so I was documenting or tracking the pain because I just thought it was normal. It was 10 years ago, so maybe I did have pain and don't remember? I am not sure to be honest.
