I was looking about the web for information on stress for a class, and I came across a disorder in response to anxiety that is characterized by pulling out one's own hairs, called trichotillomania.
And I totally used to have that, right at about puberty, which is when they say it starts.
Then I found dermatotillomania, which is another response to anxiety characterized by picking at one's skin, which is what I have now, and have had for a couple years at least.
I also have had dermophagia and trichophagia at some points. These problems are linked to OCD and anorexia... I suffered/suffer from anorexia.
It's just creepy for me to see habits I'd thought unique to me be classified as anxiety disorders. I never thought I was that anxious, but this makes sense. Has anyone else experienced tendencies like this? Any advice on what to do if you have? Is it serious? Any information on this is appreciated, as there isn't actually very much on google (shock, I know).

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Just my thoughts on 'coping' skill ,my not exactly be on topic.
I used to pull out my eyelashes which I really regret because they didn't come back and I bit of tiny pieces of my tongue. I know: disgusting
Karrin, it's disgusting, but I used to do that too. Not sleep scratching (that I know of) but biting off taste buds. It didn't ever occur to me that these things were linked or a reaction to something deeper.
