I'm beginning to get a little disillusioned by our community. All too often recently arguments errupt out of nothing.
If we can't please everyone, and it seems to me that the majority of us here have anorexia or bulimia, should we propose a specific ana/mia community?
I feel for the unsuspectng ED sufferers who wander into our discussions and upset people without meaning to, as all kinds of shit-storms have started recently.
I'm writing this with a pounding heart and shaking hands, as I'm scared to read the replies, but I think it's something that needs discussing in order to offer the best support to everyone here. Are there ways we can label posts more clearly to stop people being upset by triggers? Is our compulsion to control our weight so strong we read them despite of trigger warnings?
Sincerely, hoping to be helpful, Juice.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I'm not trying to cause an argument, far from it, I'm saying that ana/mia posters dominate the discussion posts and as such is it fair to offer the ED community as a blanket support for all eating disorders? Maybe the best way forward is to seperate those who need to lose weight from those who need to gain it. If I were an overeater I wouldn't find much here to give me advice.
Really, I come in peace! I hate concfontation, but I wanted to find out whether there was a need for seperate communities.
Binge, purge, restrict, spit, laxatives, whatever WE ALL HAVE THE SAME DISEASE.
I kinda feel like we are compareing which drug addict is worse off the alcoholic or the cocaine addict.
Bottom line... I love you all and I need your help.
I have never said no one has a right to their opinion, quite the oposite. I am saing that we need to show each other respect. This is all about LETTING eachother express our opinions, but in a way which isn't hurtful.
Lauriel, I'm not sure what you mean by some people need to grow up. I have been very supportive of comments Sera has made in the past, and I hope I have not been hurtful.
We're all a bit prickley, I'm just looking for a way to please everyone I guess.
Seriously, I'm asking do we need a seperate area for seperate disorders, or are we able to cope with potentially triggering posts without getting mad?
Don't stop posting, you add such a lot to the community, and you speak sense. We'll never all agree, and if as it seems people here don't see the need for a seperate ana/mia community I guesss I just have to develope a thicker skin.
Perhaps I'm being picky about what is a discussion, I can be a pedantic cow at times.
Don't change sera20, I really do love you just the way you are.
Hugs.
Oh, by the way, for me it would be my mother-in-law. She cooked for the kids so I didn't have to!
becasue this is based just on words, and people can not see reactions, and intention, my messages may get miss read.
i do think it may be nice to have bulimic and anorexic groups seporate.
becasue our needs are different.
on the other hand,
what ever happens, someone will be unhappy about it, we cant please everyone.
I do think that if people are triggered when COE come in asking for weight loss tips, etc. that something needs to change.
Whether that is just knowing that anything posted has the potential to be triggering or making separate communities, I don't know.
Sorry to be so late responding Juice. It's been a busy day.
