I used to go to this high-school, but I'm not enrolled anymore. However they started a PE program the semester after I left. All of the school is required to take the class.
The grade is based (not sure how much, but at least partially) on your body fat percentage. If it goes down a certain percent, you get an A.
THAT IS WRONG AND I AM ANGRY. You all KNOW how many girls and even guys will start to worry about their weight. If it was already a problem, (like for me, I almost went into anorexia, but was stopped before It got very bad) they may start starving themselves.
You know how many non-academic teens go into PE thinking oh, I can get a good grade in this. I'm good at P.E.
THIS IS WRONG and I am angry.
One girl was on crutches for a few weeks and the teacher didn't even give her a break at all.
I want to march right in there and make them change it on the spot, or fire the teacher. NOW.
But I don't go to that school and am not in the class. I don't know what I CAN do. Perhaps go talk to an old teacher of mine? My englsih teacher was nice and I got along well with her. Maybe I could ask about the PE class and have her mention something at the next meeting?
SOMETHING needs to be done before everyone there gets an eating disorder.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I could talk to people who go there and see if they'll do anything. I do know some people, (they aren't really friends but if they agree this needs to change.)
I am a PE teacher and Health teacher at our middle school and enjoy it! But we do not run our program like that...we actually really watch to make sure everyone is treated equal! We grade on participation and effort, also they get to choose there grade and try to reach for that! IT is actually good to see them grow during the year!!
Anyway if I where you I would go to a trusted teacher and then you need to go the district website! and write a letter or email the head of the education/department. The teacher might also help you do that.. But YOU need to do it. As a teacher I think it comes better hearing it from a student then someone that is not involved.
That is just my thought! If you have any questions I will try and help you out!
He changed his grading system. Too many parents complained and word got out.
