The symptoms happen because you have too much adrenaline surging through your body in response to a preceived threat of some sort (food). To gain control of the panic you need to slow down your adrenaline production. The only way do to this naturally is by making your body relax. Relaxation is a skill that can be self-taught. Google "relaxation" and there's loads of free stuff online.
Basically, if you steady your breathing the rest will follow. Try and close your eyes, breathe in SLOWLY though your nose, then out again just as slowly though your mouth.
Ptactice it when you're not anxious, then when you need to do it you will be able to tell yourself,"I will be calm!" and start the breathing.
