I don't know how to say this, but my husband wants me to get tube-fed. Until I gain a few pounds.
I am terrified of this possibility, and keep trying to tell him that I can do this on my own. I really REALLY want to beat this. And I'm struggling so hard to convince people that I'm trying.
I agreed to the tubing if we get insurance. That will take awhile, I hope, so that I can show that I can do this on my own. However, if I DO lose more weight by next week, I will probably be hospitalised by my dietitian/therapist, only because they are concerned with my health.
My question to you all that have ever had a PEG/NG: At what point (height/weight/length of time with ED) did you have one placed? Could you describe your experience? How long did you have it? Any other important details would really help too. I'm just REALLY scared. Thanks guys. /hugs

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
*hugs* You're in my prayers.
Love you
doc's usually like to save tpn for last resort... because when nutrition goes thru a central line, it by passes the gut. i know many of us with ed's already have a slow digestion system to begin with.
as far as tube feeding.. ng is is temporary. peg is more permanent (requires surgical placement). nug tubes you can start using after xray confirming placement... peg's you need to wait a while before you can start using it, because your body needs to heal a bit. but both ng and peg will allow your body to continue using your gut, ie digestive system.
most people i know with peg tubes obviously have pain after placement. they require daily dressing changes, etc. ng tubes, obviously are uncomfortable because they pass thru your nose. many people find them annoying and may have a sore throat. dopoff's, very similar to ng tubes.. are slightly more long-term than the ng.. they have a smaller lumen so they are more comfortable and flexible.. but still pass from your nose to belly.
i no you may be scared but will help in long run i had tun when i wast 4 stone for 8 weeks i ate little to at the end of 8 weeks can you try suopport drinks instead of tub feeding and bulid up soups
