Would love to hear from anyone who has tried hypnotherapy to help control their ED, and whether they would recommend it.
Am considering trying it out, as couselling, although mainly focussed on depression at the time, did not help with the EDs.
I had hypnotherapy for aracnophobia when I was 19, and although the effects weren't immediate, it did help A LOT over time. My phobia would leave me dibilitated from the fear I felt, and about a year later, I was actually able to get rid of spiders from my room, on my own (the biggest step I could ever imagine taking!) it made me feel like I had my life back.
I am kind of sceptical about it though, especially for my problem which is binge eating. Although am desperate for something to work!!
A bit about me as I'm new:
Have struggled with pretty much all the EDs you can imagine for most my adolescent life. Currently, I am a Binge eater/ COE, and feeling so desperate to stop or at least have it less frequently as I no longer purge/starve/excercise to rectify it.
Am working through a book called 'Overcoming Binge Eating' by Christopher Fairburn, which a doctor suggested years ago, and am mainly on here to use the journal section in order to do so.
Hope everyone else is doing well, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks for listening :)

I had hypnotherapy and didn't find that it was particularly helpful. Although...I found it very expensive and didn't really feel I went to enough sessions and I imagine it depends on who you go to and how much you trust them as a professional. I really liked the guy I went to (in NZ) but have to say I'm no better off. I do still use a relaxation cd that he made specifically for me which, if nothing else, helps me sleep when I work myself up. I think the action of simply trying somthing new and activly 'doing' somthing that works towards your recovery is helpful...if you have the money to try it for a prolonged period I'd go for it.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
