I'd like to know what anyone has done to get pregnant after years of an eating disorder and no period. I'm not ready to do so now, but I'd like to know for the future if anyone has had success in doing it. I'm terrified that I've damamged my body so much that I'll never get to have my own children.

I am at a healthy weight, but I'm not healthy. I used to be underweight, but have gained quite a lot and am in the normal range for my height. I do still binge and over exercise. I know those will both have to stop to be even mentally prepared for children but I was wondering if anything is ever done medically to "jump start" the periods.

I was able to get pregnant without any trouble after having anorexia for years. I was in recovery for about 3 or 4 years when I got pregnant. My period came back after I was at a healthy weight for a few months. Maybe talk to your doctor and see what you could do to get your period back sooner. I think you have to eat certain things. I think birth control pills force your body to have a period. But, yeah, talk to your doctor. He/she knows best. But I just want you to know that it is possible to get pregnant with no problems after suffering from and eating disorder for so long.

Good luck. I want kids too. My husband has 3, but i have none of my own. i was on treatment for hep c so i cannot get pregnant for another six months b/c issues if birth defects due to tx. i know i also have to stop binge/purging as well that is surly not healthy for a child. hope you find what you need!

Annie, You sound EXACTLY like me! I have been up and down in weight several times. The only way I get a monthly period is by taking 5 HTP (an amino acid) however, when I am not taking it I don't get a period. I think more then anything it has to do with the stress we put on our bodies with the binge eating and over exercising. I think what it comes down to though is that we are not ready to have children at this point in time (mentally) as well as physically, even if we are normal weight... so when we recover or are in more of a recovery it will be the time to get pregnant. Good luck with everything and if you ever want to talk I am here!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
