I've thought this for a while. I'm just on the right side of being a healthy weight according to my BMI but I thought "this is ridiculous" because muscle weighs more than fat. So you can have people who are quite muscled and yet have a BMI that says they're obese despite being clearly quite slim.

yea, I find it dumb..... It only adds to our stresses....or mine I should say.

that is interesting. i think that that is just a basis for what makes you over or under weight. a nutritionist or doctor would be able to tell wether you ae over or under weight according to your muscle mas and body fat. i (right now) am 5 pounds over weight according to bmi (?) and so flr3...it stresses me out too:( god bless y'all

I understand a doctor can tell you these things, but what about those internet sites? How can they have a clue what your muscle mass is? I don't get it either.

I completely agree....it's just another stupid measure that we are supposed to "fit" into...it makes me soo mad. Humans should not be measured by whether or not their bodies make the charts...it should be our capability to love, show compassion etc....because at the end of the day that is what matters!

bmi is a horrible scale. It really does not represent reality and should not be used to measure health or body in any way except extreme generalities. My best friend has an underweight bmi (which is still a huge trigger for me.. RRR) but she eats a lot and simply has a tiny frame. It's hard, but try not to fret about the deception of bmi!!

I don't go by BMI's. They really don't exist in my world. Too much thinking for me.

yes i hate it but im addicted to it when i see that my bmi is "too high" i will go to extreme measures to lose all the extra weight. and even then i realise i'm not a "healthy weight" according to them but it doesn't change what i do to get to my version of the ideal bmi.

I hate it. My sister is a large framed woman and I am quite peitie. To say that whatever our bodyshape our "ideal weight" should be the same is bunkum. Interestingly, scientits are now saying being "slightly overweight" WTF!! is actually good for you! Oh, as long as you don't eat bacon apparently. And this week you CAN drink wine when pregnant, unlike last week when you absolutely couldn't. Too many so-called highly paid experts with time on their hands. Didn't stop me or my sister becoming bulemic though.....

yeah, to me the BMI is not cool and I never use it!! I mean who cares ??? give me a break, break me off a piece of that kit kat bar!!!!

Juice

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
