Hi all,
As everyone knows, I am recovered, at a healthy weight, and eating very normally.
Quite recently Ive been noticing a problem. Lack of BMs.. and not to be disgusting, but when I do have a BM, it looks as if I've been suffering the flu.
I have no fever, no recent weight loss or gain, I am feeling quite tired and exhausted, but my potassium level is normal.
Believe it or not, I have never had a colonoscopy, Ive only ever given stool samples that had to deal with my ED.
Has anyone ever had one? Or blodd in stools? With a history of Chrones & Ulcerated colotis in my family should I suck it up and go to the doctor? I explained this to my family doctor via phone, and I am scared. B/c I am afraid to eat for fear of what may come out, .. and I NEED to eat.
Please any advice..

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
You may have a problem- that is certainly possible. When you go, does it hurt? Is there evident blood in the stool?
You'll hear this from everyone I'm sure, but take an in-depth look at what you're eating. Your diet can really weirdly affect what your poop looks like, and it's frequency, as I'm sure you know. Less fiber that expected = constipation or no BM. Overduing it with fiber = same result. Weird but fact. Some of the weirdest veggies come out with disgusting colours and all that jazz.
I think, and this is just my opinion, you should put this out of your mind (as much as you can), unless this is putting you in pain or discomfort. Pain = obvious problem, always.
Where this might trigger old behaviors because of fearing food, then you should get it checked out.
It just be just a normal bug working its way through your system, depending on how long it has been going on.
EDed people do develop IBS, so it may not be as complex as Crohn or colitis.
For now, keep eating. Make an appointment.
I have Ulcerative Colitis. And yes. You should DEFINITELY go to the doctor. I have a wonderful gastro intestinal specialist. My BM's are made up of blood and mucus. And I get quite crampy @ times too. It's nothing to put off though. Trust me when I tell u. It is treatable though....if you have ANY questions. Let me know. I've been dealing w/ it for 10 years.....
Instead of going under for them to take a look, I looked through my food journal, and low & behold, the answer was right there!
Jalepenos! ;o) They cause me to bleed slightly, and I had been eating at least one meal a week covered with them, my doc agrees, so we are cutting them out, she gave me a very low script for prednisone, just to help my intestinal walls, even though i hate pred. i am so thakful it wasnt a serious issue! Thanks everyone ;o)
If you notice a frank blood (bright red), then there is a problem in the lower half of your digestive tract or possibly hemmorhoids.
If you notice black, tarry stools, then you have a bleeding problem in the upper half of your digestive tract.. and its definately a problem!
either way, any notice of blood in your stool warrants a second opinion from your doc.
i'm glad you were able to find the culprit (jalepinos).. take care. :)
