Dyspraxia & Apraxia Support Group
Dyspraxia is difficulty getting the body to do what we want when we want to do it. Apraxia is a neurological disorder characterized by being unable to execute or carry out learned (familiar) movements, even if the desire and physical ability is there. This group is dedicated to those coping with either aprxia or dyspraxia. Join the group to find support and get advice.
My son is a lovely kind little boy and I treasure him very much. It is comforting to know that it is possible for him to acheive like you I hope. Well done to you.
I recommended this book to a couple last week and their son has already improved dramatically.
To clarify my statement: as I am a guy with a high metabolism & large brain mass I take quite a bit of Omega Fatty Acids - 3 capsules of Super Omega 3-6-9 morning and night plus sips off the Carlson lemon flavor cod liver oil during the day. I also eat an average of 3 Omega 3 eggs per day for breakfast.
The Super Omega 3-6-9 does indeed contain fish oil (from sardine, cod & mackerel), though it also contains borage oil & flax seed oil to supply a good dose of Omega 6 & 9.
Most people get enough Omega 6 in their diet, though not nearly enough Omega 3 & 9 specifically DHA (3) & GLA (9).
A couple tablespoons of fish oil a day will do good for an AVERAGE person without ADD / ADHD - for those of us who do not absorb enough from our food, we need to take much more to get the same effects.
Another factor is consumption of Trans Fats - if you do intake trans fats you will get little effect from fish oils or any omega fats for that matter because the Trans Fatty acids block the absorption of the Omega Fats. Thus we are best to avoid processed foods from our diets to avoid the trans fats / hydrogenated oils.
Of course you could be taking as much as me, though I have no way of knowing.
Then when I was diagnosed as ADD, Dyspraxia, Apraxia & Dyslexia I was depressed by all the drug pushing everywhere I turned. So when I found research that purported to have offered a "near cure" to these learning deficiencies I was skeptical. Being one to experiment on myself before ever supporting anything, I tried it out for myself. And my life has never been better since.
In fact, the results have been so amazing that I have added a life goal to eventually start a foundation to reduce the level of these preventable learning deficiences.
Every time someone mentions a DRUG in this forum they are effectively advertising that drug brand to another person (along with all the side effects that come with them). I post to offer another solution for those who perhaps are interested in learning about recent scientific discovery regarding to how our bodies and brains actually work and what we can do to alleviate a large percentage of our symptoms.
I am only one of thousands of individuals of all ages who have responded well to long chain phospholipids to eliminate the symptoms of Dyspraxia & Apraxia. However how often to people who have alleviated their symptoms share this information with others, not often.
FYI: Fish oils are only the starting part of the solution and I suggest people add more than merely fish oil; following a diet that supports Omega fatty acid absorption, keeps stimulants low and obtaining quality sleep and exercise are key to overall well being. Taking Omega fatty acids is a starting point, because for the "majority" of us - that's where our symptoms originated.
I only offer advice from my own experience and in the short time since I have done so I have received numerous emails of thanks from people for said advice, as well as follow up emails from people who have personally experienced improvements after only a few weeks of supplementing.
