My 8 yr old son has somewhat struggled through school since K. He started 3rd grade yesterday. I am so tired of hearing the same thing from his teachers every year. "If he would only focus" " If only he were more motivated" "Some days he does great" "He really needs to work on his writing and reading fluency". Last year was a real pain, they even wanted to hold him back even though he managed to meet all his grade level work. I started researching and I really believe he may be dyslexic. His handwritting is horrible even though we've worked on it over and over. His reading is ok, but he struggles all year. I watched a webcast by Barton and it was like a ah ha moment. I am absolutely scared to death for him. I'm going to ask the school to test him. My question is, should I have held him back last year, even though I think it would destroy his self-esteem? I am so aggravated that his teachers have never brought up the fact he could be dyslexic!!

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
