What a bad day!! grr. New here, need help. My daughter is 24 yrs old and has been approved for funding for 24/7 supervised living. She can't wait, wants to move on, tells me Learn to let go Mom! My health has taken a serious downward spiral over the past 5 yrs. This pushed the situation forward. I know it's time, I know she needs the supervision, and I also know I have done all I could. She wants out from under me. The few we've looked at so far haven't been a match for her or they didn't have an opening. We have an appt. on Mon. to see another Community (L'Arche Group). PROBLEM: Husband DOES NOT want her to leave, maybe ever!! I mean he's entitled to his opinion and we don't have to agree 100% but this is HUGE! I feel like I'm all alone and like I'm pushing her out (which I'm not). Mothers y'all know the work falls on us. I'm still in the bathroom with her, as she explains, my arms are too short and my legs are too big. Very hard to wipe. Husband doesn't see that, but I told him. He's usually an extremely supportive and loving guy. It's very unique for us to be so far apart on an issue. It's tearing me up and stirring up my health issues, that's really not good.
Anyone been in my shoes? Anyone here have adult children in supervised living??????
I'd appreciate ANY helpful suggestions.

My sister is 19 years old and we are starting to look for a group home for her. I know that it will be a hard process, but you have to think about it in the long run. At first i was totally against sending her to a group home, but than i thought of how good it will be for her. She has gone to a group home for a few weekends and she loved it! They treat her like an adult there and she is around ppl just like her, people that understand how she feels. It is so amazing to see how well they communicate with eachother.

Thanks for replying. I've felt the same, keep her home forever but once my health failed me, I could see the bigger picture. What happens when we're gone? I have a younger daughter but I don't think she should be responsible for her older sis, she deserves to live her life. Though I know they'll always be close. Thanks again, I needed to hear from someone. Hubby is doing much better and more okay with things! Phew

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
