Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. If you are a frequent sufferer of dizziness or vertigo, join the group and find support.

Hi everyone, I am in the process, right now, of trying to gather as much information as possible about dizziness and vertigo since I suffer from this condition myself but get no clear answers from Dr's. I always leave the Dr's office a little more confused then when I went in. So my question to anyone who will answer is this, how many of you who get dizziness and vertigo in any form or degree also suffer from allergies? I want to know just what role if any it plays in all forms of dizziness. If most of us have this in common, there could be hope since once the allergies are treated (not just the symptoms of allergies) the vestibular issues could resolve.
It's all hypothetical of course. But I'm aware that vertigo is a huge problem today and interestingly enough, so are allergies. More so than at any other time in history. Seems like there could be a link.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

My allergies are always bad but I never had this before last week...I have a terrible cold now so I am just hoping when that leaves it will take the dizziness with it...
1) both dizziness and allergies are very common complaints. Seeing 2 very common problems in a single person doesn't always mean they have the same root cause.
2) It is VERY common for folks to self-diagnose frontal headache as sinus and allergy. A recent study showed that over 90% of folks who self-diagnose these headaches as sinus/allergy related really have migraine instead.

About 1/3 of folks with migraine also have dizziness.

(maybe food or heavy metals, ect,) or an immune problem. It seems that inflammation is the root of a lot of evils as far as the human body is concerned. Does this seem plausible at all?
I am allergic to citrus and citric acid... which is actually the cause of my vertigo.
It cannot be determined on a scratch test, but it is a fact that this is cause and affect.
My allergies cause blockages in my inner ear which cause my vertigo. My ENT doctor verified this and I have been able to control it since I found out. :)
