Dizziness & Vertigo Support Group
Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. If you are a frequent sufferer of dizziness or vertigo, join the group and find support.
I did have several sessions with the exercises for Vestibular Disorder.. they were very helpful.. I no longer need to use a walker to steady myself.
A study of over 1400 patients we did last year showed that ENG provides physical evidence of peripheral vestibular involvement ("inner ear") in only 42% of cases. Adding rotation testing increases the probability of finding physical evidence of peripheral vestibular involvement to 71%. Advanced testing identified central nervous system "brain") involvement in an additional 6.9% of patients.
Even with advanced testing (rotation and posturography platform), 22% of tests were completely normal. The VAST majority of normal studies were in folks who had a headache history that met the International Headache Society criteria for migraine ... simply put, if your test results don't show anything, migriane MUST be considered, even if you don't have horrible headaches.
