Hi all. I am considering a partial sigmoid colectomy. I've had 5 attacks in the last 2 years. I was wondering if anyone has ever been told to lose the excess weight and eat a healthier diet before considering surgery? If I weren't obese and ate less processed food, would I still have acute cases of diverticulitis? One surgeon said yes, I would most likely still have the attacks, but I wonder if it isn't a symptom of another problem - morbid obesity...
