Getting Back To Normal, Still Some Irritation

I'm on day 8 (seven days of antibiotics) since I was treated for my diverticulitis and I'm beginning to get back to anormal routine. I've been eating a high fiber diet, and my system is working quite well.
Question-I still have a lingering irritation in the area which was infected, but its not a cramping pain, nor do I have any pain when I use the bathroom. How long does it take until you feel completely normal? My GP doesn't seemed concerned and didn't feel it necessary to continue my antibiotic therapy. Given the original event, I realize I'm much more aware of anything that feels unusual.

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It has now been two weeks since I started the low residue diet. I have started eating more normally and working fiber in.
It still "hurts" at times. Not severe pain at all. Nothing to keep me from doing any given activity. But a bit of occasional pain, less and less often.
Based on my very limited experience, I'd say you should give it another week eating carefullly.
