My GI guy is shocked and mystified. So he gave me the option to go back to my surgeon and remove all but 8 inches of my colon. I wouldn't have a colostomy, just diarrhea controled by meds. He said if I can get empirical studies showing the efficacy and REALITY of mesalamine then he'll put me on it. He uses it for other patient colon issues but I was always in a constant state of flare.
