I've always pondered the best way to monitor weight loss. How do people feel about weighing themselves or measuring inches?
I don't own a set of scales and after 3 weeks on my diet plan I don't think I could weigh myself now until I've obviously dropped a dress size or two so I've decided to measure (waist, hips, arms, thighs and bust), I feel it's less 'in your face'.
What does everyone else think and any recommendations?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I would hope that you are exercising, so as you lose fat and gain muscle, your weight will not change but you shape will be much different.
You can take all your measurements for a reference, a starting point, but the best measure will be your clothes.
When you feel sleeves or pantlegs are looser, or your waistbands are loose, you know that you are doing well.
I don't really agree with loosing weight - I agree with loosing fat!
When I was at my fittest as a fireman I weighed 75kg, my ideal weight is 62kg! But my bodyfat percentage was spot on - infact at a fit 75kg I measured smaller than at an unfit 65kg.
My trainer says scales are for fish - I'd have to say I agree although I do like to watch them a little.
